A review lands badly. A page says the Parents Palace is “harsh this decade,” and the manager becomes a fate. That is the wrong job for the room.
The Parents Palace (父母宮, fùmǔgōng) is the origin-and-elder room on a Zi Wei plate: inherited authority, the first teachers, and the boss-as-parent function — not an oracle that will fire you, promote you, or certify a mentor. It can describe how authority feels as a domain. It cannot run a performance review.
The room list: the twelve palaces. The work room, which this page must not steal: 官禄宮. A sitting that uses work language at all: what a career reading is. Read-order when the fork is a job-function: how to read Zi Wei for work.
What the room can claim
Classically 父母宮 includes mother and father. It also includes the elder-function: the person who sets the standard you inherited, the teacher who still sits in the room, the supervisor who parents the team whether or not they should. A difficult major here is not “you will have a cruel boss.” It is a description of how inherited authority tends to feel in this system — exposed, heavy, distant, or whatever that star’s court job is.
The actual elder still has a temperament, a budget, and a Tuesday. So do you.
| Object | A fair use | A refusal |
|---|---|---|
| Stars in 父母宮 | How origin and elders tend to feel | “Your manager will fire you.” |
| Boss read as elder | Language for a hierarchical week | A cosmic HR verdict |
| Mentor language | Who taught the standard you still use | “This person is your destined sponsor.” |
| Empty of majors | The elder sentence is told elsewhere | “You have no support.” |
An empty-of-majors Parents Palace is not an orphan chart. The domain is still there. Minors, transformations, and the facing room (Health, 疾厄宮, on the usual square) can carry the sentence. Do not pay to have the room “filled.”
Birth time slides every palace label. If the hour is missing, 父母宮 is provisional. Do not guess 9 a.m. because a quiz liked “authority issues,” then treat the guess as natal fact.
Mentors and bosses, not a second Career Palace
官禄宮 is how the job-function is occupied. 父母宮 is how the elder-function is occupied. You can like the work and dislike the hierarchy. You can respect a mentor and still need a different job. Collapsing the two rooms is how people decide the sky said the role is wrong when the week was about a person.
Life Palace (命宮) colors who walks into both rooms. It does not replace them. The pair for a work question is still Life and Career. Add Parents after that pair, and only when the Tuesday named an elder.
Spouse Palace (夫妻宮) faces Career, not Parents. Do not open a relationship sitting because a boss was sharp. That product compares two people. A staffing question is the wrong door.
A fictional shop and a loud elder
Kira — invented for this page — works in a family shop her parent still opens every morning. A feed says her Parents Palace “does not support independence.” By Thursday she has written a resignation she does not want, because the sentence sounded like permission to leave a person rather than a description of a room.
A narrower sitting would keep two clauses. Career might describe a preference for a craft she already has. Parents might describe an elder-function that feels close and hard to edit. The useful sentence is: “In this system, origin sits near the work, and the elder still holds the key.” The next step is a conversation about opening hours and who locks up, not a cosmic firing of a parent.
“How You Create Value,” in a chaptered career report, would still live in 官禄宮. Parents can feed a blind-spot sentence — delay around asking an elder, or treating every supervisor as the first one — but it cannot print a new title on Kira’s forehead.
When to open the room, and when to leave it
Use 父母宮 when the week actually named an elder:
- A review, a promotion conversation, or a silence after you asked for scope. The person across the table is doing the elder-function. Describe that function. Do not predict their answer.
- A family trade, a shop, a studio you inherited. Origin and work share a doorway. Keep the rooms labeled anyway.
- A mentor you are over-weighting. The palace can name a habit of borrowing a standard. It cannot tell you whether to keep the coffee.
Leave the room closed when the fork is only “this role versus that role.” That is Career, colored by Life. Adding Parents to make the sitting feel thicker is how a method becomes a mood.
A year mark (四化) on a Parents star is weather on furniture. “This stretch makes the elder-function louder” is a fair sentence. “They will promote you in March” is advertising.
If the question is money — a family loan, an inherited house — stop. 財帛宮 and 田宅宮 are different rooms. Parents can describe the person attached to the money. It cannot appraise the asset.
How Whisper sits with this page
Whisper’s daily layer uses simplified Zi Wei symbolism — Life Palace quality plus the year’s four marks — not a completed twelve-palace engine. A morning line that mentions a boss is not a 父母宮 walkthrough. The product does not currently sell a Career Palace report, and it does not sell a Parents-palace add-on either.
This page exists so the room has a name before anyone asks it to hire or fire. If you want the two clauses above, open a complete plate and write them yourself. Keep the daily note as a note.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Parents Palace only about mother and father? Classically it includes them, and it includes the elder-function. A sharp week with a supervisor can live here. So can a teacher. Read the actual elder in the room, not a family novel you have not been asked for.
Can it tell me whether my boss likes me? No. It cannot verify another person’s feelings, rank a company, or turn a layoff into a moral story about your origin star.
Should I read Parents before Career on a job fork? No. Start in 官禄宮. Add 父母宮 when the week named an elder. Starting here is how a staffing question becomes a childhood essay.
What if Parents and Career share a major star? Then origin and job-function share a name. Read the rhyme. It is still two domains. Do not collapse them into “I am my parent’s job.”
