You have a work fork and a plate. The mistake is to start in Life because Life is famous, or to start in a star encyclopedia because the names are pretty. The question is about a job-function. The room for that is Career.
To read Zi Wei for a work question, take the question to the Career Palace (官禄宮), let the Life Palace color how that room is occupied, and only then add a facing room or a year’s mark — you are not asking the plate to print a title. This is a method page, not a sitting, and not a second copy of how to read a Zi Wei chart.

Write the question first
“What career should I have?” returns a poster. “What happens when I want a staff craft and this role wants a visible client face?” gives the plate somewhere to stand.
Write three parts before you open software:
- The recent work moment (a meeting, a silence after a review, a weekend project that paid).
- What feels unclear.
- Which choice is actually yours this month.
You do not need palace vocabulary in the question box. Ordinary language is clearer than naming 官禄宮 you have not located. If the unclear thing is money, stop. That is the money method. If it is both, keep two paragraphs. Career versus Wealth is the hygiene.
Unknown birth time: say every palace label is provisional. Hour moves the Life pointer and slides Career with it. Do not rectify from a quiz that liked “leader.”
A short read-order
Stay inside this order. The general chart guide can wait for a day when you do not have a fork.
- Name 官禄宮 and the major (or the empty). Work-as-domain. Not a title. If empty of majors, say the work sentence will come from minors, transformations, or the facing room.
- Name 命宮 and how it colors the walk-in. Who is occupying the job-function. Do not let this step replace step one.
- Add the facing room only if the week named it. Spouse (夫妻宮) faces Career. Use it for “this job versus this bond.” Do not open a couple checkout.
- Add one layer of weather. Natal or annual four transformations that actually touch Career (or Life-as-color). If no mark lands there, say so.
- Write one description and one next step. “This work can feel public” is description. “Quit on Friday” is instruction. Keep the first. Translate the second into a conversation, a month of scope notes, or a no.
Brightness and auxiliaries can wait until the major in Career has a sentence. Major stars are furniture. Do not inventory the house before you know which room you are in.
Parents palace is allowed when the question is a boss-as-elder. Peers palace is allowed when the question is the crowd. Add them after the five steps, not instead of them.
A fictional staff-versus-stage week
Jordan — invented for this page — has a stable staff role and an offer to become the person clients see. A feed says the Career Palace “wants visibility.” Jordan hears a verdict.
A method sitting would keep the offer as the question. Career might describe a preference for metered craft. Life might describe someone who occupies a life more quietly than a stage wants. The year’s mark might make the work room easier to see, which is not the same as “take the offer.”
The useful sentence is: “In this system, the job-function may prefer the back room, and this offer wants the front.” The next step is a conversation about whether the new role can keep a craft block, not a cosmic yes. How You Create Value is that chapter’s name when a report exists. Jordan already has a style. The feed printed a title over it.
What not to do
Do not import the Midheaven mid-sentence. If you want Western public-work language, use the Midheaven page on its own chart.
Do not read Wealth because the offer pays more and then call it a work reading. Pay is a second room.
Do not collect decade cycles on day one. 大限 rotating a “current” palace is a later layer. Natal Career first, or the pointer will feel like a slot machine.
Do not treat a daily line that mentions work as this method. That is the honesty of the next section.
How Whisper sits with this page
This is a method you can walk on a complete plate. Whisper’s daily layer is simplified Zi Wei symbolism: Life quality plus the year’s four marks. It does not walk 官禄宮 every morning. A work-flavored daily sentence is not step one through five.
A full Career Palace sitting would need a plate the current product does not sell. The journal is the vocabulary and the order. If you wanted two people compared, that is a relationship reading — the wrong door for a job fork.

Can I skip Life and only read Career? You can start in Career. You still need Life as color, or you will treat the job-function as a stranger. Skipping Life is rarer than skipping Career. Beginners usually steal the other way.
What if no transformation touches Career this year? Then this year’s Si Hua is not about this fork. That is a complete answer. Do not hunt a mark in a random palace to keep the sitting dramatic.
