Zi Wei Auxiliary Stars: Six Modifiers Worth Learning First

Minor and auxiliary stars modify a palace; they do not get the keynote. Learn a small set first — Wen Chang, Wen Qu, Zuo Fu, You Bi, Qing Yang, Tuo Luo — and refuse the 100-star dump.

A Zi Wei plate can print more than a hundred names. Most of them are modifiers. The fourteen major stars still get the keynote. Auxiliaries change the sentence. They do not get to give the lecture.

Beginners who download a 108-star glossary and try to read a Tuesday will conclude the system is unreadable. The system is readable if you refuse the dump. This page is a small honest set: two scholars, two assistants, two blades. Learn these six after you can find the Life Palace and name the major in the room of the question. Not before.

Read-order reminder: how to read a Zi Wei chart. Rooms: twelve palaces.

Modifiers, Not a Second Cast

An auxiliary star in a palace is an adjective. “Wu Qu with Wen Chang in Career” is not “you are an accountant and a writer.” It is “the standards-and-numbers work room also has a paperwork / exam quality.” The major is the noun. If there is no major, the room is told by minors, transformations, and the opposite palace — still not by a pile of adjectives fighting for the verb.

Brightness still belongs to the major. Auxiliaries do not promote Xian to Miao. See star brightness. A helper in a fallen room is help in an expensive room.

The four transformations can land on some of these names, especially Wen Chang and Wen Qu in Ke lists. That is a school detail. If your annual table transforms an auxiliary, read it as weather on the adjective, not as a new major.

Six to Learn First

文昌 Wen Chang and 文曲 Wen Qu

The scholar pair. Chang is the cleaner of the two: documents, exams, speech that can be checked, the memo that has a point. Qu is the more winding intelligence: music, persuasion, the sentence that turns. Together in a palace they mark that domain as one where language and notation matter.

In Life, they tint the self-room toward letters — not “you will be a novelist.” In Career, they tint the job-function toward work that must be written down. In an empty-of-majors palace they can carry more of the sentence than usual, which is still not a license to ignore the rest of the plate.

If you only have attention for one pair this month, this is a reasonable pair. Most English-language overclaims about “academic stars” start here and then forget the palace.

左辅 Zuo Fu and 右弼 You Bi

The assistants. Left and right support. Fu and Bi are the names people reach for when they want the chart to say “I will be helped.” Sometimes the palace is, in fact, one where help shows up. Sometimes the assistants describe a person who is the help — the deputy, the second, the one who makes a louder star usable.

They are strongest as a pair in the same room or in rooms that already talk to each other. One assistant alone is still a modifier: “this domain is less solitary.” It is not a rescue. It will not save a Career palace whose major is expensive and whose year is Hua Ji. It may mean you do not have to run that year as a closed room.

Classical notes fuss about whether Fu/Bi “brighten” a major. Treat that as: the sentence gains a support clause. Do not reprint the brightness table.

擎羊 Qing Yang and 陀罗 Tuo Luo

The two extras people panic about. Qing Yang is the yang blade: sharp, sudden, surgical, easy to overuse. Tuo Luo is the spinner: delay, entanglement, the problem that rotates instead of ending. They are often printed next to a major as “killing stars.” That translation is a poster.

In a palace, Qing Yang means the domain has an edge. You can use an edge. You can also cut the thing you needed. Tuo Luo means the domain has drag. You can use drag as a reason to finish the last 10 percent. You can also use it as a costume for not deciding.

A Life Palace major with Qing Yang is not a violent personality. It is a self-room with a blade in the drawer. A Wealth palace with Tuo Luo is not “you will never get paid.” It is a money room where things tangle. Ordinary language only, then stop.

If both blades sit on the same major, the sentence is “this room is sharp and sticky.” That is a hard room. It is still a room. Do not pay to have them removed. They are placements.

Why the 100-Star Dump Fails

The rest of the list — peach blossom names, sky voids, monthly generals, the noble-person crowd — includes real classical vocabulary. It also includes a lot of ways to keep a sitting from ending. Each extra name is a chance to find a yes and a no in the same palace. That is how fatalism sneaks in through completeness.

A usable rule: one major, then at most one auxiliary clause, then one transformation if it touches the palace of the question. If you cannot say the sentence without a third adjective, you are collecting, not reading.

Apps that tint every square with twelve small names are doing a catalog. Catalogs are for practitioners who already know which names they ignore. You are allowed to ignore most of them. The Whisper does not walk auxiliaries in the daily line. It uses Life-palace major quality plus the year’s four marks. That limit is honest. This page is how you add a little more without adding a hundred.

A Small Habit

When you open a plate, cover the minor names with your hand (or the equivalent in software). Name the Life major and the question-palace major. Uncover. Keep one auxiliary if it changes the sentence. Write the sentence in ordinary language. Close the catalog.

If the only thing you can see is Qing Yang, you have uncovered too early.

These six will still be there next year. The dump will still be there too. The difference is whether the plate remains a language or becomes a pile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are auxiliary stars weaker than major stars? They carry less of the keynote. In a palace with no major they can do more of the talking. They still do not outrank a major in the same room.

Should I learn Huo Xing and Ling Xing next? If you keep meeting them in the palace of a real question, yes. They are a fire/speed pair. They are not more important than Fu/Bi just because they sound dramatic.

Do Zuo Fu and You Bi cancel Qing Yang? They can soften a sentence. They do not delete a placement. Read all three if they share a room, then return to ordinary language.

Why do some lists include Wen Chang among the transformations? Some year-stem tables assign Hua Ke to Wen Chang or Wen Qu. That is weather on the scholar adjective. It does not promote Chang to a fourteenth major.

Is a 108-star reading more accurate? It is more complete as a catalog. Completeness is not the same as a better sentence. Accuracy, in practice, is whether the sentence you kept matches the fork you named.

Some patterns only appear when the reading becomes personal.
