Runes
The Elder Futhark is a 24-symbol writing system used by Germanic peoples from roughly the 2nd to 8th centuries CE. Each rune has a name, a phonetic value, and a cluster of associated meanings that accumulated through use, poetry, and mythology. Used as a divination system, the runes function as a compact vocabulary of archetypal situations — Isa for stillness and ice, Uruz for raw force, Fehu for mobile wealth.
